Samsung UN55B8500 : Customer Reviews

Best LCD tv available today! To clarify I own this tv and am not just basing this review on time spent in a store browsing. This tv has been hard to come by and the only place I could find that had it in stock was my local Best Buy with a Magnolia section. Design: Samsung is noted for their sleek design and this tv is no exception. Samsung says it has a charcoal touch of color but I really didn't notice any color in the bezel. It is black and goes to clear at the outer edge. It sits on a metal stand with a clear neck holding the tv. At the bottom middle of the tv below where it says Samsung is a blue light which can be turned off. I noticed the light flickers ever so slightly when a command is sent from the remote you are using. The tv is VERY slim. Only 1.6" at it's fattest point. This is amazing considering this tv is a fully backlit LED unit with local dimming. Truly amazing and a design that will have your friends jealous. Picture Quality: This is the best looking LCD tv made today. I have viewed many other LCD tv's including the Sony XBR8 and the Samsung A950 from last year and this one is the best looking I have seen. From a picture quality perspective the XBR8 is closest but not quite up to par with the 8500. Realistically if you had either of these sets in your house they would look spectacular. The blacks on the 8500 are so dark it approaches the level of blacks in the best Plasma tv's. In a dark room I could not tell where the tv screen ended and the bezel began because the screen was so dark. The colors are superb and can be tweaked any number of ways to your liking. I prefer the "Natural" mode for everyday use and the "Movie" mode for watching blu-ray movies. The 240hz refresh is nice but the best thing is that you can independantly control Blue and Judder settings. Cranking up the 240hz tends to produce what some call the "soap opera" effect but this can easily be eliminated by tweaking. There is also a Game mode which I use when gaming on my PS3. One interesting thing I found out was that the Movie mode using the Warm 2 setting is pretty much spot on from a calibration perspective right out of the box. I say that because I have a Spears & Munsil calibration blu-ray disc and when I ran the tv through the calibration process using Movie mode on Warm 2 I literally only had to tweak one setting by one or two points. I could see many people just flipping back and forth between Natural and Movie modes, depending on what they are watching, and not bothering to calibrate the tv as it looks great pretty much out of the box. I also wanted to mention that standard def looks good on this tv. It doesn't look nearly as good as HD but it is totally acceptable in my opinion. Sound: Having such a think profile I expected the sound to be horrible. Surprisingly it was quite acceptable. While I would recommend a surround sound system I never felt like the tv speakers were all that bad. My wife has never mentioned anything and I have never been watching a tv show and thought, "oh the sound stinks". I would say it's about average which is ok to me considering the tiny amount of space Samsung had to work with. While audio-philes may not like the tv speakers/sound I think a lot of people would be totally fine with it. Viewing Angle: I sit about 9' to 10' away from the screen and have not noticed any real issues with the viewing angle. Of course no LED LCD will have a viewing angle as good as a plasma but unless you are sitting at an extreme angle you probably won't have to worry too much about this. I think this is more of a personal preference...sure the best picture is right in the center of the screen but I don't think sitting to the right or left a few feet makes the picture dramatically different. Maybe a video-phile would notice but my wife doesn't notice and has never said a thing. Reflection: Be aware that this is NOT a matte screen, it is a reflective screen. If you have windows directly facing the tv then make sure you have curtains or blinds that can block out the light enough not to bother you. I don't think it's anymore reflective than other Samsung tv's but coming from a matte screen prior to this it was a big change for me. Widgets: The tv comes with internet connectivity for Yahoo Widgets, You Tube, Twitter, USA Today Sports and several others. You can either buy a Samsung USB wireless stick to connect the tv wirelessly to your network or you can plug an ethernet cable directly into the back of your tv. I have an ethernet cable plugged directly into the back of it. First things first, the widgets do not load fast. I'm not sure why but even using a direct internet cable into the tv they still do not load fast. No idea why but they are slooow. Slow enough for me to be annoyed and not use them much. It's odd because when I went to the You Tube widget and looked up a video it played quickly and was smooth. Hopefully Samsung will have a software update to allow the widgets to load faster. Right now I would say they are just a novelty. If they can decrease the load times and add more apps such as Facebook, then I think this has potential. But people are not buying this tv because of the widgets, they are buying it for the picture. Overall I think this is an excellent tv. Is it expensive, yes. Does it have the best picture of any LCD available, yes. If you have the money this is a great tv. I use a Harmony One remote and it works flawlessly with this tv. PS3 games and blu-ray movies look incredible. The only quibble I have with the tv is the screen reflectivity and that is more a result of my room setup than the tv itself. Whether I'm watching HD football, playing a PS3 game, watching a blu-ray movie or watching The Office I have been blown away by the picture this tv can deliver.

The Samsung HDTV Review And Commentary

Consumers who want a bigger television usually can't do much better than a Samsung high definition television. Such TVs are a marvel of human achievements in getting a better picture and sound out of movies, games, and satellite programming. Whatever the case, the question all boils down to whether or not the benefits of HDTV outweigh the cost, which can be hefty in size.

The biggest reason a consumer would want to go ahead and upgrade to the Samsung HDTV line of televisions is because of the superior picture quality that they exhibit. The Samsun high definition television will, on average, be around ten times better than the average television in terms of resolution and picture quality. In such cases, just watching a movie or playing a video game can be a completely different experience.

Another good implementation by the good folks at Samsung is the fact that their high definition television sets have what is called progressive scan functionality. This feature allows for a bright and vibrant picture, as it essentially draws lines of pixels at quicker response times. This not only eliminates flicker that most are accustomed to with regular televisions, but also gives a precise picture that has perfect picture quality.

Of course a high definition TV from Samsung wouldn't be much if it didn't have great sound to go with the excellent picture quality. In terms of sound, the HDTV will not disappoint, as it incorporates audio that comes from up to six different speakers in orer to give a sense of "surround sound." This can make playing a video game much more thrilling, not to mention watching normal programming from cable and satellite channels much more exciting.

Sound in a regular television set will most likely be analog- as compared to the digital signal that high definition televisions from Samsung offer. In many respects, it is like comparing an FM radio to a CD in terms of quality. What's more is the fact that Samsung high definition televisions have surround sound, which will "surround" the user in sound to give a more realistic environment for movies and games.

Buying a high definition TV from Samsung is great for those who want to keep their investment running strong in the future. Soon the analog signal that many communication networks use will cease to exist, and digital will take over as the better alternative. In this case, high definition TVs from Samsung will still be able to be used without problems, as they are already using digital signals. Other televisions, however, may need upgrades that can be expensive in design.

Final Thoughts

A high definition television is more than just a TV- it's an experience with every movie and game that is played on it. The surround sound, realistic picture, and impressive progressive scanning feature all work together to give the consumer a very real environment with every movie or video game. And as high definition television sets will be able to be used with digital signal broadcasting, they withstand the tests of time and prove to be a great return on investment.

RIM Blackberry 8330 - Very Sleek

Mobile technologies are more than just dual-action processors that help your computer run faster and more efficiently. It also refers to mobile technology, such as pocket PCs, Smartphones and PDAs. You have to stay abreast of technological terms if you hope to understand the latest techno-gadgets that are available on the market. There will be some terms that apply to more than one thing, but it never hurts to learn all you can about technology, for when it comes time to make your hand-held purchase. It has received rave reviews from panels, such as those found on www.cnet.com. CNET gives the HX4700 an editorial rating of 7.9, which is excellent. It gives a user rating of 7.3, which is still considered great among consumers. But why has it received such rave reviews? The reviews come from its outstanding performance and speed. The HX4700 is operating on Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Edition and has the capabilities of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, along with a 624 MHz XScale processor from Hewlett Packard. The four inch screen is unbelievable with its color pixels and it features a replaceable battery to ensure that documents and other information are not lost when the battery dies. It also features a large quantity of memory and is equipped with Outlook, Word, Excel and Internet Explorer. If there is a downside to the HX4700, then it's all in size. It is a bit bulky, but is still a very sleek pocket PC.There is a small handicap present when the user first operates the new touchpad and this can translate into poor gaming, for those that use their pocket PC for gaming in particular. If you are in the market for a pocket PC for gaming purposes, then you may want to turn to Dell's Axim. There are other mobile technologies on the market today that can be bought for far less than the HX4700's price tag. However, few can match its performance power. One of its chief competitors is Apple's new iPhone, which users have fallen in love with for its extra capabilities, such as the use of an iPod and a gaming Smartphone. Whatever you decide is up to your own unique preferences and your own personal needs.

There are several things to consider when checking out the "best digital cameras".MEGAPIXELS. One of the most important features of digital camera to make it into the best digital cameras group is its mega pixel properties. The bigger the mega pixels the better the image will come out. A mega pixel is the same as 1,000,000 pixels. The resolution of your image is based on the mega pixel property of your camera. This indicates that as you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurry colors.LCD SIZE. The best digital cameras will always have a massive LCD to help you frame your subject while not having to squint through the viewfinder. There is More Than One Way to Insure Your 3G S iPhone

There is More Than One Way to Insure Your 3G S iPhoneBy: Sally Right

Are you thinking of becoming an owner of the latest iPhone 3GS model from Apple, the latest upgrade is alive with full video capture and much faster operating speeds, previous models lacked this extra speed and advanced functionality.Straight away it is worth noting that, as with all the latest models of electrical equipment that the price will undoubtedly have gone up; the latest edition to the iPhone family offers no change to this trend, with the 3GS model having significantly raised in cost than its predecessor .This leave the new 3GS owner with a bit of a dilemma, and that's weather they should protect their new 3GS iPhone from common occurrences like loss, theft and accidental damage, with something like stand alone iPhone insurance cover, or make sure protection is included within your household contents insurance as the replacement cost will be the best part of 400.There are some complications to this matter though, as there are variables that could make some of the iPhone insurance cover options better for one person, yet on the other hand, for another person, this could not be the best option available. So let's take a brief look at the protection cover available for iPhone's for the average person on the street.

The first option we should look at is including your iPhone on your home contents insurance policy. This is an obvious first choice and may well be a good option for many iPhone owners, that is, indeed, if you actually have home contents insurance in the first place, as many people tend to take a gamble on this, especially younger people in rented accommodation. One point to clarify before you get iPhone insurance cover through your content insurance, is the excess charge in the event of a claim and, secondly, if a claim for three or four hundred on you contents insurance, will the price rocket next year, as you may well loose your no claims bonus.Secondly, is the iPhone insurance you will be offered when you first take out your iPhone contract. This is an area where caution is needed, as phone sales staff are trying to push their companies insurance on you to meet there sales quota. You will almost always find, this will be the most expensive cover and may not cover you for what is really needed, like loss and water damage. At this point you would be better asking for a written copy of the insurance terms and conditions, sitting down and reading them, rather than taking the sales reps word for it, you may well be shocked. The third iPhone cover option is a stand alone policy just for your iPhone. This type of cover will quite often offer more protection for your money than the networks own insurance. Simply Google iPhone insurance and you will easily find some of the independent iPhone insurance providers who offer cover for getting on half the cost of the phone networks own iPhone insurance cover.
