Average customer review:Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, Samsung's 47-inch HC-P4741W delivers high performance and convenience. The HC-P4741W's housing is little bigger than the screen and barely more than 2 feet deep, making it easy to position and, at 110 pounds, relatively easy to move. And the screen's widescreen dimension is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies.
Three high-resolution, 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen through incorporated features like HD Fine Focus lenses and a high-performance HD Fine Pitch lenticular screen with anti-glare protection. Samsung Auto Self Focus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Auto pixel shifting reduces the risk of image burn-in.
An important feature is the set's 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
Picture-format size adjustments include settings for wide (7 modes: auto wide, wide, panorama, zoom 1, zoom 2, normal, cinema 1, cinema 2) and settings for 4:3 aspect ratio viewing (5 modes: normal, zoom 1, zoom 2, cinema 1, cinema 2). Choose the perfect aspect-ratio mode for your current program, whether it's sports, TV, or movies. The system will remember your last setting for each input.
A total of 7 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes 3 composite-video and 2 high-definition (standard-definition compatible) component-video inputs, 1 S-video input, and 1 standard RF input (for an antenna, a VCR, or a cable box). Side-panel inputs accommodate camcorders, gaming consoles, or other spontaneous hookups, while a set of stereo analog audio outputs foster hookup with a surround receiver or integrated amplifier for listening through an external system.
A 15-watts-per-channel stereo audio system features 2 single-driver speakers and benefits from a 5-band equalizer, which is designed to enhance the sound from movies and music programs alike. Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you're watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom. A BBE Sound circuit adjusts the phase relationships of the low, mid, and high frequencies while augmenting the higher and lower frequencies. The result is sonic brilliance and the clarity of live recorded audio programming, soundtracks, and music.
This set is equipped with discrete IR codes for use with an optional macro/programmable remote control (a universal remote is supplied).
