Buying a high definition TV from Samsung is great for those who want to keep their investment running strong in the future. Soon the analog signal that many communication networks use will cease to exist, and digital will take over as the better alternative. In this case, high definition TVs from Samsung will still be able to be used without problems, as they are already using digital signals. Other televisions, however, may need upgrades that can be expensive in design.

A great choice
I took delivery of this TV 3 weeks ago to replace an older and smaller LCD model. Having been looking at the various televisions of this sort of size that are available, I made my final decision to buy this particular model based on looking in stores, careful inspection of specifications and looking widely at reviews on the internet. As something which is going to be a major feature of my living room for quite a long time I wanted to make the right decision. Certainly there are cheaper brands, and also cheaper Sony models out there, but the Bravia 'W' range seems to be the best combination when it comes to features, quality and price. Having used it daily I can now confirm that I think I made a wise choice. This Sony has the best colour display of any television I've seen. When you first watch it it's as if everything is suddenly in 3D - such is the depth and definition of the picture, even when using it to watch standard definition Freeview television as I usually do. I thought that I was getting a very good quality Freeview picture with my previous setup, but it is noticeably better with this Bravia. I've also invested in a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player to use with this TV and watched a number of discs through that. As you'd expect the quality of the picture then is exceptional. The sound is also surprisingly good for a TV. There's plenty of energy in the sound output and great clarity too. I can now hear things that I'd missed before - I actually got up to answer the phone at one point before realising that it wasn't mine - it was on the telly! There's only one snag that I've found with this TV and that's a minor one. Although it has a good number of connections available to it Sony has reduced the number of SCART sockets on this model to 2. As someone who is still in the process of upgrading my televisual equipment, the rest of my equipment (except for the Blu-ray player) uses SCART connections so a third one may have been a bonus.

Similar to most people, I was drawn to the 40W5500 because of the reputation(and lack of stock) of the 40W4500. A member of my family took delivery of a 4500 before christmas and the quality I saw there cemented my desire to own a Sony W series LCD Television. Firstly the price offered for this set by Amazon is second to none. As a reliable and known web retailer it filled me with confidence to purchase, and I havn't been disappointed. Firstly, the set-up was as easy as could possibly be. Plug everything in and let the auto set-up take control. The pictures from Standard definition, from both the built in digital tuner and Sky, provides an excellent viewing experience. No pixillation, sharp lines and excellent detailing in dark scenes. High Definition Blu-Ray pictures are quite simply in another world. Having Run Wall-E, Mama-Mia and Phantom of the Opera, the picture is at worse on par with the predecessor 40W4500, if anything of better quality....absolutely breathtaking! I look forward to a glowing review from the likes of What Hi-Fi, and then the ability to gloat as the stock of this TV suffer under what I'm sure will be massive demand. A great choice
I took delivery of this TV 3 weeks ago to replace an older and smaller LCD model. Having been looking at the various televisions of this sort of size that are available, I made my final decision to buy this particular model based on looking in stores, careful inspection of specifications and looking widely at reviews on the internet. As something which is going to be a major feature of my living room for quite a long time I wanted to make the right decision. Certainly there are cheaper brands, and also cheaper Sony models out there, but the Bravia 'W' range seems to be the best combination when it comes to features, quality and price. Having used it daily I can now confirm that I think I made a wise choice. This Sony has the best colour display of any television I've seen. When you first watch it it's as if everything is suddenly in 3D - such is the depth and definition of the picture, even when using it to watch standard definition Freeview television as I usually do. I thought that I was getting a very good quality Freeview picture with my previous setup, but it is noticeably better with this Bravia. I've also invested in a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player to use with this TV and watched a number of discs through that. As you'd expect the quality of the picture then is exceptional. The sound is also surprisingly good for a TV. There's plenty of energy in the sound output and great clarity too. I can now hear things that I'd missed before - I actually got up to answer the phone at one point before realising that it wasn't mine - it was on the telly! There's only one snag that I've found with this TV and that's a minor one. Although it has a good number of connections available to it Sony has reduced the number of SCART sockets on this model to 2. As someone who is still in the process of upgrading my televisual equipment, the rest of my equipment (except for the Blu-ray player) uses SCART connections so a third one may have been a bonus.
Impressive
Similar to most people, I was drawn to the 40W5500 because of the reputation(and lack of stock) of the 40W4500. A member of my family took delivery of a 4500 before christmas and the quality I saw there cemented my desire to own a Sony W series LCD Television. Firstly the price offered for this set by Amazon is second to none. As a reliable and known web retailer it filled me with confidence to purchase, and I havn't been disappointed. Firstly, the set-up was as easy as could possibly be. Plug everything in and let the auto set-up take control. The pictures from Standard definition, from both the built in digital tuner and Sky, provides an excellent viewing experience. No pixillation, sharp lines and excellent detailing in dark scenes. High Definition Blu-Ray pictures are quite simply in another world. Having Run Wall-E, Mama-Mia and Phantom of the Opera, the picture is at worse on par with the predecessor 40W4500, if anything of better quality....absolutely breathtaking! I look forward to a glowing review from the likes of What Hi-Fi, and then the ability to gloat as the stock of this TV suffer under what I'm sure will be massive demand. Incredible Value and Performance5
The Samsung LN46A550 was at the top of our list for quite some time while we researched the quality and value of Flat Panel LCDs that were in the 42 - 46 inch range. While other TVs may have done slightly better in terms of price, the quality of Samsung televisions have surpassed even Sony in recent years as they consistently rank as one of the top brands. This TV is no different.
We were not in need of all the bells and whistles that are advertised on the later models of the Samsungs, such as the 120Hz refresh rate. This feature may smooth out intense sports action but as the human eye can only process a 60Hz refresh rate, the 120Hz will often tire your eyes out after viewing too long (this is why looking at an LCD monitor for a computer too long tires your eyes out).
As for its performance, we could not be happier. The Dark Night on Blu-ray played via a PS3 hooked up with HDMI 6FT / 2M Super High Resolution Male to Male Cable by Eforcity looked absolutely stunning. The 1080p resolution on this TV is incredible. People may complain about artifacts and pixelation while watching TV but that issue (which I have experienced) is not the TV itself. The fact that it can play Blu-ray movies at full 1080p resolution flawlessly indicates that the problem lies with the video source. The free HD channels I get as a Time Warner subscriber in NYC look amazing, but they do get a bit pixely sometimes during intense camera movement and action. This is also added to by the fact that even channels that are supposedly broadcasting in HD are using compression techniques that lower the quality on the subscriber's end. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done about it but wait for HD to become the standard. Everything still looks great and I do not regret this purchase in the slightest. Even the sound quality surprised me (it may not be 5.1 surround but it was better than I expected after reading people's reviews here).
Excellent TV5
This TV is great, Ive had it for a month and a half with no problems whatsoever. The color/tone was perfect straight out of the box for me. It is also extremely quiet and doesnt give off any heat (I have it in a very small room and the temperature in there and the rest of the house is the same). I also really like the matte finish of the screen. This tv sits directly across the room from a window where the glare was tterrible with a normal tv but it is significantly reduced with this one. That is one way this tv is actually better than the A650, which has a glossy reflective screen.
I use it for over-the-air HD tv which looks great (if you have a strong signal on your antenna) and blu-ray movies, but the thing i use it for most is my Playstation 3. These two were made for eachother! The games look stunning even though most of them are only 720p. This TV doesnt have the 120Hz refresh rate like the A650 (which Ive seen because my parents have the A650). The 120hz refresh rate is nice for nature programs, animated movies, and sports but I actually do not like it for live action movies and tv shows. I feel like it looks like you're on the film set, which sounds good, but it really makes it look fake to me for some reason. Videogames currently only output at 60Hz so the 120Hz refresh rate makes no difference for them.
Overall I am extremely happy with this TV and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice HDtv, especially if your budget is a little tight.

Top 10 Tips For Buying Cheap Textbooks Online
Short of money? (Dumb question, I know). Trying to figure out how are you going to afford all the textbooks for your next term? Are you creating new economic theories to balance your scarce budget?
Then you are probably not taking advantage of the very best, more efficient way to get your textbooks cheap, and I mean really cheap.
Search and buy online. That's it. That's the secret. And to make sure you get the best value out of it, I'm giving you below the Top 10 Tips for buying textbooks online.
1. Buy early. Don't wait for the first day of classes to go and find the books you need. That's the moment when demand increases and, inevitably, prices increase with it. Textbooks sell fast and furiously over that short period of time and the effort required to get the best offers then is far greater than the effort necessary just a couple of weeks before.
If your college or university doesn't supply the textbook lists in advance, don't despair, contact former students from the course you want to take, or even the professors themselves, and ask them for the books you should buy. That little extra effort will certainly be worth your while.
2. Buy used. Secondhand textbooks are cheaper. That's an undeniable fact. It is not unusual to find savings in excess of $50 against list prices.
3. Consider older editions. Often times, books on classical physics, chemistry or biology remain virtually the same for years. If you are willing to use older editions you could find books for as little as $1. Not sure if the International Edition will cut it? Contact your course tutor and ask. Chances are he'll even recommend an older book.
4. International Editions. An International Edition is a textbook that has been published outside the US and Canada and is meant to be purchased and used outside the US and Canada. International Editions are generally drastically cheaper than their American/Canadian counterparts. Here's the catch, the publishers of International Editions generally do not authorize the sale and distribution of International Editions in the United States and Canada and such sale or distribution may violate copyrights and trademarks of the publishers of such works.
5. Use the ISBN number to boost the effectiveness of your searches. Every book published since 1970 has a unique ISBN, using it instead of the author and/or title will make your searches faster and 100% accurate.
6. Free shipping. Look for free shipping sellers when you are shopping around. Even though shipping within the US is generally under $4, or perhaps because of it, more and more sellers are keen to offer free shipping to potential customers in order to convert them into customers. This translates approximately as an addtional 10% discount off a $40 book or 5% discount off an $80 one.
7. Shop around. I know you know that already, anyway, let me say it again, just in case you just landed on Earth from another planet 10 minutes ago. 10. Treat your textbooks well. Don't use them as umbrellas or to kill that gigantic spider that appeared from nowhere inside the bathtub. Don't write the name of your love interest all over it alongside little hearts and don't use it as a canvas when you feel that artistic urge. Remember, you might want to sell them later and the better the condition of the book the more money you receive for it.
